My Favorite Christmas Gift this year was a small bottle of coins. Coins that had undoubtedly been collections for some time. A gift left for me on my doorstep during the night. This gift was to me the greatest gift I could have received. It represents so much more then the money given. To me it represents the giving nature we all have within ourselves. This anonymous giving person or people have shown me again what Christmas is all about.
Help 3-1/2 year old Zachary fight neuroblastoma (a rare cancer) by purchasing a few t-shirts and hoodies.
Over 80% of each purchase will go to Zach to help fund his ongoing medical treatment.
For those of us suffering with MS there are struggles and triumphs everyday. This short podcast is from the Seattle Community channel podcast. It was very difficult for me to watch. It explains how many MS sufferers feel with and about this disease, me included. It explains more of the mental struggle that one goes through everyday. It is a free download from iTunes. Thank You Greg for the link.
"We have the cells; we know what controls their birth and death—we're on our way," says McKay, a senior molecular biology investigator. "It looks like we've got this disease in our sights now. We will understand Parkinson's disease relatively soon."
"Researchers funded in part by the National MS Society report that an antibody can stimulate repair of myelin in mice with MS-like disease. Myelin is the insulating coating on nerve fibers that is attacked and damaged during the course of MS. They also report that the antibody, called rHIgM22, remains effective in mice when combined with methylprednisolone, a corticosteroid used to treat relapses in people with MS.
"Unraveling the autoimmune disease - what causes it, how to treat it, and someday, how to cure it - requires work in more than just one discipline of science. The hard part, however, is connecting the University of Utah's more than 100 faculty neuroscience investigators who work in areas ranging from research to clinical care."
Another step froward in the search for the cure. Collaborative efforts like this will go a long way.
It is with an full heart that I am writing all of you to say Thank You! for your support. The Lucky 13's yard sale was a huge success and I owe it all to you the volunteers.
